DUBAI APARTMENTS
Dubai Apartments • Concept Project • Google UX Design Professional Certificate
Project Overview

Executive Summary
Dubai Apartments is a conceptual property discovery platform created as part of the Google UX Design Professional Certificate. The project explored how thoughtful UX design can simplify the apartment rental experience by helping users search, compare, and evaluate properties more efficiently.
Finding rental properties often involves browsing multiple websites, comparing incomplete listings, and repeatedly applying search filters. The objective of this project was to design an intuitive property search experience that enables users to discover apartments quickly while making confident decisions based on clear information, interactive maps, and streamlined communication with property owners.
The project followed a complete user-centered design process, including research, competitive analysis, personas, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, and iterative improvements.
Although conceptual, the project strengthened my understanding of designing marketplace experiences that balance user needs with business objectives while maintaining clarity throughout complex search workflows.
Project Context
This project was completed as part of the Google UX Design Professional Certificate.
Its objective was to demonstrate the complete UX design process by solving a realistic consumer problem using industry-standard UX methods.
Unlike my enterprise healthcare and aviation projects, this case study focuses on research-driven product design and usability validation.
The Problem
Searching for rental apartments can be frustrating.
Users often struggle with:
The challenge was to create a property search experience that minimizes friction while helping users make informed rental decisions.
Design Challenge
The project focused on improving five core experiences.
Help users quickly find relevant apartments through intuitive search and filtering.
Present property information clearly through images, pricing, amenities, and location details.
Enable users to compare listings without repeatedly performing searches.
Provide transparent pricing and complete property information.
Support property search anytime and anywhere through responsive interactions.
Project Goals
The experience was designed around several principles.
My Role
This project covered the complete UX lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Design Process
A structured, user-centered approach was followed to take the product from initial exploration to final solution.
Each stage informed the next, ensuring user insights continuously shaped the evolution of the platform.
User Research
Research focused on understanding how people search for rental apartments and identifying the most common frustrations during the decision-making process. Interviews and competitive analysis revealed several recurring challenges.
Key Insights
These insights became the foundation for subsequent design decisions.
User Persona
Primary User
User Journey
The user journey identified opportunities to improve every stage of the apartment search experience.
The analysis revealed opportunities to reduce unnecessary navigation while improving information visibility.
Information Architecture
The application was structured around the natural rental journey.
Organizing information according to users' mental models reduced cognitive effort throughout the experience.
Wireframing
Early paper sketches explored multiple navigation patterns before progressing into digital wireframes.
This iterative process enabled rapid refinement of search layouts, property cards, filtering mechanisms, and detail pages before visual design began.
Key UX Decisions
Strategic choices made during the design process to optimize the rental discovery experience.
Designed a streamlined search experience allowing users to narrow results using price, location, bedrooms, amenities, and property type.
Enabled users to compare shortlisted properties more efficiently without restarting their search.
Prioritized high-quality imagery, floor plans, pricing, amenities, and location information to support informed decisions.
Optimized interactions for one-handed mobile use while maintaining accessibility and readability.
Simplified communication with property agents through prominent enquiry actions.

Visual Design
The interface focused on clarity, trust, and visual exploration.
Large readable typography supported quick scanning.
A clean, modern interface emphasized property imagery while maintaining accessibility.

Interactive Prototype
Interactive prototypes simulated the complete apartment search experience.
Users were able to browse listings, filter properties, explore details, save favourites, and contact agents, allowing usability issues to be identified before finalizing the design.
Usability Testing
Testing uncovered several opportunities for improvement, allowing critical friction points to be addressed before final design.
| Observation | Improvement |
|---|---|
| Filters felt overwhelming | Grouped filters into logical categories |
| Users wanted easier comparison | Added saved properties and comparison flow |
| Pricing lacked clarity | Improved pricing visibility and labels |
| Navigation caused hesitation | Simplified primary navigation |
The design was refined through multiple iterations based on user feedback.
Final Solution
Dubai Apartments delivers a streamlined property search experience focused on reducing effort while improving decision confidence.
